Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of English 11 Writing Studio, a coursework tool for English 11 (Technical Writing for Business), Sections B and C. By signing in you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the tool; speak with the instructor about an alternative.
Eligibility
The tool is for students currently enrolled in the course whose UP Mail address is on the class roster, and for the instructor. Access is tied to your roster entry.
Your account
- Keep your sign-in link and password private. They are personal to you.
- Use one account only, under your own name.
- Tell the instructor promptly if you think someone else has used your account.
Acceptable use
You agree that you will:
- submit only your own original work, consistent with the UP rules on academic integrity;
- write reviews that are constructive, respectful, and about the writing rather than the writer;
- not attempt to identify the author of a piece you are reviewing or the reviewer of your own work;
- not share, repost, or circulate a classmate’s submission or feedback outside the class;
- not upload malware, unlawful content, or material that infringes someone else’s rights;
- not scrape, probe, overload, or try to break the tool or its access controls.
Harassment, discriminatory language, or misuse of another student’s work is a breach of these terms and may also be a disciplinary matter under University rules.
Anonymity
Peer review depends on anonymity. Do not place your name, signature, or other identifying details inside a submission, and do not try to work out or reveal who wrote or reviewed a piece.
Your content
You keep all rights to the writing you submit. You grant the course a limited, non-exclusive licence to store your work, display it (without your identity) to your assigned reviewers and (with your identity) to the instructor, and process it for feedback and assessment during the course. This licence ends when your data is deleted under the Privacy Notice.
Participation and grading
Submitting work and completing your assigned reviews count toward participation. The instructor’s academic judgment on the quality and completeness of your work is final. Official grades are recorded in the University’s system, not in this tool; scores shown here are formative.
Availability
The tool is provided on a best-effort basis and may be unavailable at times. Keep your own copy of everything you write. The instructor is not liable for lost work caused by an outage, your device, or your network.
Suspension
The instructor may suspend or remove your access for a breach of these terms or a suspected academic-integrity issue, without affecting any separate University process.
Liability
English 11 Writing Studio is a small course tool, not a University-wide service. To the extent allowed by law, it is provided “as is”, and liability for any loss arising from its use is limited.
Governing rules
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines and by the rules and policies of the University of the Philippines, including those on student conduct and academic integrity.
Changes
These terms are versioned by date (currently 2026-09-10). Material changes will be posted here, and you will be asked to accept the new version before continuing.
